Green Lane - WD14

It began with a leak…

#Project1

Update and retile of shower unit.

Before>

Hidden issues: In dismantling the existing shower unit several problems were uncovered. 10 years of water damage had penetrated the stud walls, plasterboards and floors of the adjoining landing and bedrooms. No waterproofing system had been installed and the wrong size shower tray had been fitted.

During>

Repair solutions: The damage to the rusting RSJ beam was contained. The rotten floor joists were replaced and strengthened and the damaged ceiling in the lounge directly below was re-boarded. OSB boarding and tile backer boards were fitted to the entire damaged areas.

Design solutions: Now with a clean canvas to improve on, the shower area was increased with larger glass panels and wasted space in the eaves converted into plumbing access and additional storage. Large format Slate was chosen for the floors, shower area, upturns and shelves with 30mm thick slate slabs for the countertops.

After>

Finishing solutions: The client chose a striking contemporary F&B De Nimes Blue colour scheme to tie everything together.

Testimonial: We employed Graham to refit our shower-room following a leak and found this to be a much bigger job than originally thought.  Luckily we were in safe hands.  Graham is an expert tiler but moreover, very knowledgeable and skilled in all aspects of building and was able to deal with everything thrown at him in one seamless service. I feel supremely confident in my much admired and leak-free shower room and would not hesitate to recommend.
